Restoration, Repair, & Preservation

Before and AfterRestoration & Repair

We enjoy true craftsmanship and work with anything from mending broken pieces, cracks and surface issuses; to actually resculpting, molding and adding missing pieces that will restore the sculpture to its original state.

Moments in Bronze is also excited to offer wonderful solutions in restoring the patinas of a sculpture.  We have the capability of revitilizing or refurbushing the color of a faded or darkened bronze due to surface damage, elements or age.

Preservation

  • The process begins with a dedicated team effort that will evaluate the state of the sculpture by applying gained knowledge to read a sculpture's finish.
  • Determine the avenue needed to specially clean and prep the bronze sculpture for either a newly applied patina, or a new wax or lacquered seal coat that will return the sculpture to its originial state.
  • Once the sculpture has been sealed, we use a special technique to buff and polish the surface.

Protect Your Investment

Neil Armstrong StatueWe care about helping our clients protect their investment in the artwork they have purchased.

Please collectors, keep in mind the natural aging process that occurs when any sculpture is placed outdoors or is subject to natural elements such as sun, humitidy and acid rain.  The sculpture must be properly protected and maintained in order to hold on to the original patina and luster.

Naturally, the weathering process could be a preference to some.  They feel it actually enhances the beauty of the artwork, but, if there comes a time when a fresh new look is desired, we are the solution.

At Moments in Bronze, we specialize in creating a new perception to the older sculpture; or help minimize the damages of the elements through regular maintainance of a newer one.  Most of the time, this can be done on site for larger pieces and in our studio for smaller ones.

Scheduled Maintenance Programs

The maintenance requirements of a sculpture are based on the intensity of the enviroment that it's placed in.  Most importantly, it depends on what state the collector would like it to remain in.

Maintenance programs usually range from semi-annual to annual.

Semi-annual:
In humid areas the maintenance programs are naturally more demanding.  We recommend replaceing the seal coat every six months, usually in the spring and again in the fall.  Annual applications will help, but, it will become more difficult over time to preserve the original beauty of the sculpture.

Annual:
In dryer more arid climates, bronze sculptures can easily be maintained with a yearly maintenance program.  This schedule also works nicely for indoor bronzes as well.
